Additional Ways to Get Involved

Using a mixture of innovation and tradition, Tackle Hunger programs are changing the landscape of food systems for communities throughout the country by using the energy of sporting events to raise donations and awareness for local food charities across the nation. If you're interesting in becoming a virtual volunteer to help us grow, submit this form.

In addition to this, we’re advancing data-driven solutions to support local food charities with our Tackle Hunger Map, and by partnering with the NFL Alumni, the Tackle Hunger Challenge is filling school pantries and ensuring hungry students have food.

How One NFL Alumni Helps Feed the Need

When Reggie Rusk, an NFL Alumni from the Houston area, heard about the needs at a neighborhood school, his mission was to help. His foundation helps kids with their athleticism, but then he found out that many of those same kids were going hungry. “I couldn’t believe the need,” he stated. Reggie created a campaign, using the Tackle Hunger Map, to collect donations so the athletic department at a local high school could feed their student athletes without having to take that money out of their budget. It is a win for all!

Utah Schools Get Statewide Support For Souper Bowl of Caring Effort

We are excited that KUTV and schools across Utah again participated in Souper Bowl of Caring events to fill the shelves of food pantries supporting school children and their families. It is surprising what schools need food pantries. The reality: All of them need a food resource for families in need. When asked if West Jordan High School Principal, James Birch saw a connection between giving students food and academic performance, the answer was emphatic, “No question. A hungry student can’t pay attention in class. It changes everything from A to Z, attendance, grades, attitude…everything.”
